Salisbury, MD: November 18, 2022 is the next 3rd Friday in Downtown Salisbury. November’s theme is Holiday Lights, complete with the annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony, special performances and lots of holiday cheer. It is also the last 3rd Friday held outdoors until spring, so it’s the perfect time to stock up on locally made arts and crafts for the gift-giving season.
3rd Friday coincides with the annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony to be held on North Division Street starting at 5:30 p.m., with the tree lit at 6 p.m. The Ceremony will be kicked off with carols and dance performances by Feet of Fire Dance Company and followed by instrumental holiday music from the Bay Brass Ensemble. Join Mayor Day and Santa as the Holiday Tree is lit at 6 p.m. along with a menorah and kinara in anticipation of the upcoming Hanukkah and Kwanzaa seasons. Kids can have fun with 3-D holiday glasses, sign up for Gingerbread House Decorating or drop off their very own letter to Santa in the Letters to Santa mailbox right outside the Downtown Salisbury Visitor Center.
St. Peter’s Episcopal Church will be hosting even more holiday cheer and musical performances. The Maryland State Boychoir will perform twice at St. Peter's on3rd Friday with a short 6:30 p.m. performance of Evensong followed by a second 7:30 p.m. performance of family-friendly sacred and secular music both with free admission sponsored by the St. Cecilia Guild. St. Peter’s Episcopal Church will also be hosting its Annual Holiday Marketplace & Bazaar full of home baked goods, tasty treats, homemade wreaths, and unique gifts.
Shoppers will find tons of amazing shopping options this 3rd Friday. Artists and crafters will fill the streets with locally handmade treasures and the Downtown Salisbury shops and restaurants will be open with special sales. Blackwater Apothecary will host a Holiday Market featuring local vendors and a photographer offering mini portrait sessions.
Homes 4 Hope LLC will celebrate its first 3rd Friday in its all-new 229 W. Main Street Counseling Facility with pictures with Santa, inspirational ornament decorating, “build a candy train” crafts for kids, hot cocoa and luminaries. Be sure to stop by and welcome them to Downtown Salisbury!
Salisbury Art Space will host the opening reception for “Contemporary Abstraction” featuring abstract artworks all submitted by local artists. “Contemporary Abstraction” is sponsored by the Whaley Family Foundation and judged by renowned artist Michel Demanche, whose work will on display in the Foyer Gallery. Salisbury Art Space will host the opening reception from 5 – 8 p.m. with refreshments and kids crafts in the classroom.

The Downtown Trolley will be running this 3rd Friday on a continuous loop from Salisbury University to Downtown to make sure it’s easy for students, faculty and staff to make it for all the festivities. Trolley service will begin at 4:45 PM in front of SU Academic Commons and will drop of on Camden Street by the SU Downtown Building and will loop between the two locations until 8:15 PM, completely free to ride.
3rd Friday is a downtown economic development initiative and a project of the Salisbury Arts & Entertainment District, in cooperation with The City of Salisbury. There is no charge for artists to participate, but advance registration is required. For More Info: 3rdFridaySby.com
